Since 1994 Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” has been a staple of the holiday season and now the classic tune will be be associated with the holiday more than ever as it’s set to be turned into a movie.
The five-time Grammy Award winner announced the news in a video posted on social media. “I don’t want a lot for Christmas. There is just one thing I need” Carey, who is laying on a couch in front of a Christmas tree, said in the video.
“My song is becoming a movie! You’re the first to hear about this exciting news!” she also wrote.
The all-new animated film will be “based on Mariah’s classic Christmas song.”
It is set to come out during the 2017 holiday season.
“All I Want For Christmas” was first released by Carey back in November of 1994. It was a part of her first Christmas album Merry Christmas, which since its release has been certified five-times platinum here in the United States.
