Entertainment Tonight reports a source tells them Swift’s next big album is expected to be released by the end of the year. The 27-year-old artist has been noticeably absent from the public eye as of late and that is because she has been “busy working on her upcoming album.”
This timeline for Swift’s next release is not something new. Back in March, her friend Ed Sheeran told the BBC “Taylor isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of the year. Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records.”
The source tells ET Swift has been in the process of figuring out what the sound and feel of her impending album will be. She is also deciding whether or not the album will fall under the pop genre or the country genre, which is where she got her start.

Swift’s genre debate was visible during the end of 2016. In October, she penned the track “Better Man” for country group Little Big Town and then in December released her “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” collaboration with former One Direction member Zayn.
Whatever category Swift’s next album falls under, it will more than likely find success. Throughout her career Swift has released five studio albums and all five have been certified multi-platinum.
