Kevin Spacey To Host ‘The 71st Annual Tony Awards’

By: Greg Sacidor

Academy Award, Golden Globe and Tony Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey has been tapped to host theater’s biggest night.

Tuesday (April 18), CBS announced actor Kevin Spacey will host The 71st Annual Tony Awards this June. The show will take place live from the historic Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

While this will mark Spacey’s first time hosting the awards show, he is no stranger to the show itself. In 1991, Spacey won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his performance in Lost In Yonkers.

“I was their second choice for Usual Suspects, forth choice for American Beauty and 15th choice to host this year’s Tony Awards. I think my career is definitely going in the right direction,” Spacey said. “Maybe I can get shortlisted to host the Oscars if everyone else turns it down.”

The 71st Annual Tony Awards will air live Sunday, June 11 on CBS3.
