Ryan Seacrest has officially been named Kelly Ripa’s new Live co-host.
A little more than a year after the departure of co-host and Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, Live has found a full-time replacement. The announcement was made Monday (May 1) morning when Ripa introduced Seacrest to the show’s live studio audience.
“So excited to join this show,” Seacrest wrote on Twitter. “[Kelly Ripa] crushes every morning…one of my favorite people ever.”
Last April, Strahan departed from the show to join Good Morning America. Strahan’s departure caused a bit of controversy for the show as Ripa was reportedly blindsided by the news.
Sunday (April 30) both Ripa and Live teased Monday’s big announcement. Ripa shared a video of herself drinking from her Live with Kelly coffee mug, which she captioned “We’re going to need a bigger mug.”
Live spoofed Beyoncé’s now famous pregnancy photo writing “We are incredibly grateful that we are growing to two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – Live.”
