In the wake of the explosion at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England Monday (May 22) night, The Late Late Show host James Corden, an England native, took a moment to send his thoughts and prayers to the people of Manchester.
As he looked directly into the camera, an emotional Corden said things like this “shocks” him every time. “It shocks me every time we hear this sort of news,” Corden said. “Especially when there will be so many children at this concert tonight.”
While the city of Manchester will be associated with the events from Monday for at least the near future, Corden shared his feelings on the city and the many good things that have come out of there such as comedy, music and a number of renowned sports teams. Corden also praised the spirit of the people of Manchester, calling them “strong, proud, caring people.”
“When I think of Manchester, the place that I know, I think of the spirit of the people there. And I’m telling you, a more tight-knit group of people you will be hard-pressed to find. Strong, proud, caring people with community at its core. And if it was even possible, the spirit of the people of Manchester will grow even stronger this evening.”
Corden was not the only celebrity who weighed in on the events in Manchester. A number of artists such as Katy Perry, P!nk, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande herself all took to social media to share their thoughts and prayers as well.
