After a 15-year-long absence, Ellen DeGeneres is making her highly-anticipated return to stand-up comedy.
“I’m writing it now and I can’t wait,” DeGeneres said.
The widely-popular daytime talk show host said the special all came together after the streaming platform sent her a tweet asking if she was interested. DeGeneres said she told them she would have to think about it and then 30 seconds later said, “I’m in.”
DeGeneres will join a long list of comedians, such as Dave Chappelle, Louis CK, Jim Gaffigan, Kevin James, Tracy Morgan and Amy Schumer, who have done or have agreed to do stand-up specials for Netflix in recent years.
There has been no word yet on when DeGeneres’ special will become available, but she said, “I’ll keep you posted when and where I’m going to shoot my Netflix special. I’m excited to do it. I’m excited for you to see it.”
