Join us in wishing Jasziah Buskirk-Bennett a very Happy 12th Birthday!
Jasziah Buskirk-Bennett’s medical journey began when his mother, Nicole, was just three months pregnant. At that time, doctors discovered that Jasziah had developed a rare heart disease called truncus arteriosus, which causes symptoms of heart failure. Throughout his childhood, Jasziah endured several heart surgeries and Nicole relied on the support that the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House provided. Nicole has several health struggles of her own, including legal blindness, so having the support of the House was invaluable to her.
During Nicole’s most recent stay, Jasziah endured a 12 hour surgery to fight another battle: scoliosis. Nicole shared, “The House is magnificent every time we stay here. We were only supposed to stay for one week, but we ended up staying for a month because Jasziah’s recovery time was longer than expected. Everyone is so kind. We appreciate everything that the House has done for us for the last 12 years, I don’t know what I would have done without it.”
The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, the first Ronald McDonald House in the world, helps keeps families, like Jasziah’s, close.
