Join us in wishing Emmit Spearman a very Happy 4th Birthday!
At just 14 months old, Emmitt Spearman was diagnosed with stage four, high-risk neuroblastoma. Scans revealed that cancer had spread to every bone in his body, and his doctors decided to pursue an aggressive treatment that included multiple operations, radiation treatment, chemotherapy, and a bone marrow transplant—all over the course of one year.
Two months after Emmitt completed his treatment, two more tumors were found in his brain. They were removed the day after Christmas in 2015 and he then underwent a clinical trial which concluded this past February.
Despite his hardships, Emmitt has remained a very happy soon-to-be four year old boy who loves baseball and playing with his toys and is now doing very well. His mother shared, “We stayed at the Front and Erie House while Emmitt was receiving treatment at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. The House was amazing and I am so grateful for it. It helped us financially and, more importantly, it helped us stay together as a family with my mother and Emmitt’s older sister, Gabriella.”
The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, the first Ronald McDonald House in the world, helps keeps families, like Emmitt’s, close.
